In Loving Memory of Emily

I am so sadden by events of today's day. Not really sure how to start as I am sitting here, tears running down my face, and I am thinking of my dear friend that has to be more than devastated. Interesting how we meet some people that touch our lives by doing what they do, they are so nonchalant about it, but it just sticks with you. You feel inspired, honored, and very happy in their presence. This is what kind of person Karen and her family is. My silent heroes <3

Exactly two years ago I followed a story about Emily and Zoey, two pups with very interesting background, bonded pair looking for home. I followed them on the Facebook and I wanted to meet both. I reach out to Matt and Karen (foster families) with offer of my services to help the girls find a new home. I really wanted to help spread their story and what goes best with a story? Some really memorable photos.

Please, take a look at the original article from two years ago: Emily and Zoey need Home for Holidays!

I have been so busy between fostering, dog training, pet photography, and shelter work I rarely show on Facebook. Today, for some reason, I signed up late, but what I have seen took my breath away, crushed my heart into million little pieces, and I burst into tears. I was in disbelieve. I met those two incredible girls only once, but they just charmed me on so many levels. I was in love thinking, if I didn't have three pups already, they would be mine! That drove me to try harder to share their stories. Bonded pair is always harder to adopt and it takes much longer.

Today, Karen and Matt found out that people that adopted Emily and Zoey, despite the adoption contract, dumped both dogs in the St John's County Pet Center. Those two were bonded pair since day one and were to be adopted together. If things didn't worked out, two fosters were ready to step up and do what is necessary. Sadly September 24th, 2016 both girls were dumped no contact with fosters, no explanation, just left behind. Sadly, Emily did not pass the 'assessment test' or whatever they do to dogs to deem them adoptable. Emily didn't make it and was euthanized on September 30th, 2016. Zoey was adopted on October 15th, 2016.

Devastating, horrifying, and just terrifying news about Emily. In a way I am speechless how I really feel about this. Words will never describe how hurtful this whole situation is to so many I know! I took my pups for very long walk so many times before sitting down to write this. This is not about me, but how affected I feel is not surprising to me.  I am sadden and angry with people that their bad judgement killed Emily. Sadden that the foster home took all precautions before adopting the dogs out, but the end of the bargain from the adoptive family was not upheld. I met the girls only once, but imagine Karen and Matt both fostered the girls. They were part of their families for VERY long time. To both: my thoughts are with you and your families in this difficult time.

Zoey and Emily always together

Zoey and Emily always together

Emily was very spunky, independent, and very beautiful girl. She was the trouble maker, she was the smile in your day, she was the one that would do something but point a paw at Zoey. This girl had a spark, she brightened the room, and made you wonder what else she will think of. Emily was truly GSD/Husky mix with the personality of a husky. I was honored to capture your spark and personality on my photos Emily. She really was very special girl and we know Zoey must miss her. Please, share this short story so we can find Zoey. Under any circumstances we don't want to interfere with the adoption. We just want to make sure Zoey is OK and loved and if the family needs anything to contact Karen and Matt via their FB page for the girls. Page is called Emily & Zoey Finally Found a Forever Home
